Merged these patches.

While doing this is maybe wise, I'd like to wait until after 1.0 is out
before doing more stuff like this. I'm also not 100% certain that we
totally want to move the client config stuff into pulsecore or not... it
could be useful to expose in some circumstances... although most likely
not!!
