When I said that "the probability is quite high that assertion failures
go somewhere", I meant errors.ubuntu.com with "somewhere". I thought it
would be a good idea to subscribe to pulseaudio and libpulse related
crash reports in errors.ubuntu.com, but perhaps a periodic manual check
makes more sense, if the rate is thousands of reports per year.

I can see the high level report page that lists all the reports, but
trying to open an individual report requires an Ubuntu One account. I'll
create an Ubuntu One account and try again. I'll contact you if that
doesn't work out.
