[pulseaudio-discuss] Applications not using default sink

I am trying to set up pulseaudio to swap the left and right channels on
my wife's system. I have added the following to /etc/pulse/default.pa:

  load-module module-remap-sink sink_name=reverse-stereo master=0 \
    channels=2 master_channel_map=front-right,front-left \
    channel_map=front-left,front-right

  set-default-sink reverse-stereo

"pactl info" shows that the default sink is now reverse-stereo, and
"paplay -d reverse-stereo test.wav" does indeed play in through the
swapped channels.

Unfortunately, neither paplay nor any other program seems to actually
use the reverse-stereo sink by default. I have tried adding
"restore_device=false" to the "load-module module-stream-restore ..."
to no effect.

Any pointers/ideas appreciated.

Thanks!
