Valgrind picks up the file when you give the option
--suppressions=<file>. I don't see why this wouldn't work in out-of-tree
builds, since the matching is (in this case) made only based on the
function name where the error happens.

Probably. I didn't notice any information about comments when I read the
syntax documentation, but I didn't particularly look for that either.
I'll add a comment in v2 if I figure out how to do that.
