Lack of resources happened.
For transparency, I'll tell how much I have time for PulseAudio
maintenance and how I allocate that for patch reviews. I'm allowed to
use 20% (7.5 hours / week) of my working time on PulseAudio maintenance.
My current approach to allocating that to different tasks is to use 40%
(3 hours/week) on replying to questions and discussions on the mailing
list and bugzilla, updating the patch status wiki page and attending the
weekly meetings, 20% (1.5 hours/week) on miscellaneous tasks and 40% (3
hours/week) on releasing and patch reviews. When there are any release
blocker issues to work on, I don't do patch reviews (except for some
trivial patches). When there are no release blocker issues, I review
patches in the order they are listed on the patch status wiki page (they
are sorted according to the date of first submission).
So, before I'll get around to your patches, I have a few release blocker
issues to sort out (help would be very welcome, especially with bug
88452):
- Get clarity on whether to apply Georg's patch "Unconditionally load
both bluetooth headset backends", then update the release notes
accordingly.
- Fix https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88452 (7.0 blocker)
- Fix https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81777 (I promised to
fix this right after 6.0 has been released)
After that, there are two patches in the queue before your patches, as
can be seen on the patch status wiki page. After those I will review
your patches, if nobody else has done that by then.
I don't know what system the other maintainers use, but I know they
don't have any more time for patch reviews than I do. If you (or anyone
else) know someone who would be willing to fund more PA maintenance
work, let me know.
