Release Status
--------------
Kevin would like to cut a release candidate 4 late today and
then release on Friday.  Release candidate 4 will be accompanied
by an announcement that it is intended to be the last release
candidate, and that only major blockers will be fixed at this time.
Kevin will spend as much time as he can on documentation on
Thursday in order to get it ready for Friday.

Paul discussed the preliminary results of the vote on the Xaw/Xp
issue.  Option (3) - bumping the major version - received the most
votes.  Code will be included in the release to implement
this option.


Bug list
--------
For each bug that is currently listed as a release blocker, Kevin will
update the bug with a note stating that any available patches should
be submitted by 6:00 PM EDT today.  Those without patches will be 
deferred until the next release.

 #905: mkfontscale crashes when processing MSungStd-Light-Acro.otf 
       No patches are available for this at this time, so it will
       probably not be able to make this release.  If a patch is
       available today, it could be accepted, but no known patches
       are available.  

 #999: The documentation bug
       Soeren checked in his release note changes that he was working on.

#1029: Egbert asked for any other followups by 8/31.  
       Everything submitted so far has been checked in.  If other people
       want to change their .cf files, those changes should be submitted
       by 6:00PM EDT today.  Other vendors can always toggle the setting
       in their host.def files, so this is not much of a blocker anymore.

#1099: Bugs to hold for next release
       No movement on this

#1155: libGL build failure: IEEE_ONE undefined on hppa/mips linux
       Patch is available (in Mesa), so Kevin will just take
       the fix from Mesa.

#1168: Damage crashes with rootless layer
       Kevin hasn't seen much movement on this, so he created a patch,
       but he would like more feedback from Torrey and Keith.  It would
       be nice to include a fix for this in the release, however.

#1183: IA-64: HP ZX1/2 support current disabled
       Patch is available, but Egbert is asking for review of the patch.

#1204: Xvfb fails XDrawText and XDrawText16
       Needs investigation.  Will probably not be able to fix for this
       release.  Kevin has run these tests with the dummy driver (which
       goes through the same fb code), but the dummy driver works.

#1210: GL contexts are sometimes not displayed with XDarwin's AGL
       Torrey has a 90% patch that still has some artifacts and is
       working on a more complete patch.  This will only affect one
       file and will only affect MacOS.  Torrey will go with the best
       he has later today.

#1213: make install fails with BuildServersOnly YES
       Problem has been worked around.  If patch available by
       6:00 PM EDT today, it will be accepted.

#1216: I810 color problem with DRI driver
       Keith Whitwell pointed people at a patch in Mesa, but was
       surprised this didn't show up sooner.  Kevin is tempted to take
       patch #18.  Kevin will talk further with Keith Whitwell about this.

#1257: Slash key broken on br abnt2 keyboards
       This bug has been around for quite some time, but was only recently
       reported.  Alexander Gottwald has created a patch for this that
       reverses a previous change.  Kevin feels this is a reasonable 
       workaround for now.  The plan is to accept the patch and check it
       in, but also leave the bug open to block the next release so that
       the root cause can be investigated for the next release.



Documentation
-------------
After everything is checked in (by the end of the day today), Kevin
will tag the tree and send an announcement.  After that, Kevin will
work as much as possible on documentation on Thursday.  Kevin would
like to find out what else people would like to see in the release notes.
