[SCIM] Problems with SCIM 0.96 + SCIM-Chinese 0.30

Hi,
I downloaded, compiled, and installed scim0.96 and scim-chinese 0.30 
successfully in my YellowDog Linux 3.01(ppc64). My locale is en_US.UTF-8, and 
XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM". Everything seemed fine before I started the program 
with the follwing messages:

1. It could be something wrong with pinyin module, but I cann't figure it out, 
unfortunately.
2. I could not trigger up the input methods; Nothing happended when I hit 
Control+Space.
Any help is highly appreciated.
