Ok.. installed from the source tarball. But I'm having trouble using it,
now.
I've compiled scim and scim-uim and installed them. They seem to work -
running scim -d gives the following output (i disabled the languages I
don't need with scim-setup)
Smart Common Input Method 1.0.1

Everything looks fine here. But scim doesn't seem to work - ctrl-space
never does anything, and I don't see scim listed in the input methods
list when I right-click in a gtk2 app. The UIM stuff does show up...
I've tried it with scim-table installed instead, in case it was just a
problem with uim, but still no good.
This setup did work before though, which is odd - when I was using the
.97 packages from debian unstable.
Oh, I've also got this in my .xsession:
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"
export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"
export LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8
Any idea what might be wrong? I don't even see any way to get a decent
log file made or anything, so I have no idea at what step it might be
breaking...
