I don't have a license for Win7 and really would like to avoid buying one if at
all possible.
As for XP 64bit support, my general experience is that WinXP 64 isn't usually
supported because no one bothers to try to see if the code will work there.
Most software that works on Windows Server 2003 x64 will run, unchanged or with
minimal registry hacking, on XP x64. (For instance, back when I was running
the OS on bare metal, rather than in a VM, I got a variety of sound cards,
video cards, and my iPod to work fine using the 2k3x64 drivers, once I hacked
the installation scripts to allow install on XP64.)
This could be as simple as changing the install script to allow installation on
this version of windows. (Or, it could be much harder.) I don't currently have
a system set up to cross-compile to Windows; otherwise I'd take a look at the
installation script in order to try building a custom install package.
