[Spice-devel] how does spice identify the video areas

Hi guys, 

Recently I am reading the spice code, from the "spice for newbie" document 
I know that the spice uses different 
ways to compress the video image and other image, and indentify the video 
areas by identifying regions that are updated with high rate.

Is there anybody can tell me the details of this mechanism? Which pieces 
of code implement this?
