We have stopped using vdi_port, it is used by older spice versions, in
newer vdagent and qemu we reuse the virtio-serial pci device, that has
seperate drivers.

That part is still correct. What does info qtree show in qemu? (trying
to verify you are running the qxl device). Which driver did you use, can
you provide the link?  Perhaps you picked the wrong architecture? Is
this 64 bit or 32 bit XP?  we only have drivers for the later (for Win7
we support both).
