Blech.  I'm glad I looked; that bit of code in my patch is wrong.
I used that as a crutch to get my frame buffer resized; I should
instead set the qxl->virtual_x and qxl->virtual_y to a different value.

I want to take a bit more time with this; I don't have a truly good
handle on how the virtual sizing should work.

I've attached my current 'best' patch if others are interested.  I'll
try to follow through tomorrow or Monday.
