spice-webdavd service fails to start on Windows 11 guest in GNOME boxes

Hello Spice developers,

I am currently attempting to use the Shared Folders feature of GNOME Boxes. I have installed spice-guest-tools-latest and run spice-webdavd-x64-latest.msi. Windows Firewall is disabled. However, the service "Spice webdav proxy" fails to start on the Windows guest.

guest OS: Windows 11 Education 23H2 build 22631.3880 (see win_system_info.png)
host OS: Fedora Linux 40 Workstation Edition (see System Details Report.md)
GNOME Boxes version: gnome-boxes.x86_64 46.1-1.fc40 from Fedora's @updates repository

Upon booting the guest OS and opening Task Manager, "Spice webdav proxy" is shown to be stopped. When I attempt to start it via Task Manager, it stops again immediately. When I attempt to start it via Services, a window pops up declaring "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." (See service_could_not_start.png).

I have tried this both without manually editing the libvirt configuration (see .win11-2.draft.premod.txt) and with a manual edit (see .win11-2.draft.txt), with the only change being the removal of one line from the section describing the spiceport channel. I have attached a screenshot of the Devices & Shares settings within GNOME Boxes (devices_&_shares.png).

I have also attempted reinstalling both the guest tools and spice-webdavd on the guest OS. This did not seem to alter the behavior of the system, although I only observed the stopping of the webdav service previously without recording the error code. I will also note here that I did not and still do not know how to uninstall the guest tools or webdav service, so my reinstallation process consisted simply of running the installers again and rebooting (both guest OS and host).

I would appreciate your guidance on troubleshooting this issue.

Thank you,

Cypress Tomaneng
