Hi!
----
I just build a Mozilla binary using the STSF/Xft bridge library on
Solaris 9/x86 2004/04 - the build is available from
http://www.nrubsig.org/people/gisburn/work/mozilla/stsf/mozilla-i386-pc-solaris2.9-2004-04-05-STSF-Xst-bridge-test001.tar.bz2
(~~14MB download)
Some comments:
- The build was compiled with gcc (which means it is slow) and compiled
without optimisation (the build will be even slower) ... sorry... I do
nt have a Sun Workshop 8/9 license for x86 to do any testing... ;-(((((
* All fonts look... uhm... UGLY:
- they're too bold
- the metrics do not match the glyph being rendered (if the glyph is
removed some parts outside the glyph box may be left over)
- glphy are usually squished together
- spacing is weired... for example on some pages "Suggestions" is
rendered as "S uggestions"
- Non-ASCII text does not work. http://www.yahoo.co.jp/ only renderes
ASCII junk... same applies to http://www.thai.net/
- MathML rendering (see http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/) ...
same as the japanese text

Roland
