Well, there were a bunch of glitches. I'll fixed or hacked around them -
when my build is done I'll attach the patch to a bug report that either
you, Jay or Alan can walk throught it and check whether my changes make
any sense... :)

What did you do to get the ST font server running on Linux ? You had the
XST-enabled Xfree86 server running... which means that somehow the ST
font server was running too... somehow... :)

I hoped that I have something to present on the LinuxTag here in Germany
(23.6-26.6.) ... but I guess I have to drop that idea and restrict my
stuff to the theoretical part... ;-((
