This was the most important sentence in this whole discussion, because
it gives me another use case:

Pavel is a user that hates programs wrongly guessing what he wants to
do. Although it would be nice if Swfdec knew which files to autoplay,
it's most important to him that he knows why a file was autoplayed.

And while I'm at it, here's the other use cases I've found so far:

Linda is a hardcore ad fighter. She uses Firefox extensions to their
fullest potential. Every Flash file that makes it past her adblock
defences can just be autoplayed. After all, Swfdec is a Flash player,
not an adblock extension.

RIccardo often wonders why these play buttons exist. After all, he has
to click them to get at functionality. He thinks they are just a
stopgap to avoid crashes of an incomplete implementation. The goal for
a free implementation of the most widespread browser plugin should of
course autoplay all files.

Benjamin is a user without a lot of clue about Flash. He just knows
two things: He visits sites such as Youtube and Google Video and the
video player on these sites should autoplay. However there's also
annoying ads on other sites. Those ads should not annoy him. He's also
quite stupid. This means he usually doesn't figure out how to set up
properties. He also doesn't remember if he has set up settings before.

Cheers,
Benjamin
