From pyz at brama.com Mon Nov 15 20:45:11 2021 From: pyz at brama.com (Max Pyziur) Date: Mon, 15 Nov 2021 15:45:11 -0500 Subject: [SyncEvolution] Syncing an Android Phone - Memotoo Message-ID: Greetings, I've been using Syncevolution to sync with my Memotoo account for a considerable period of time. In turn, I use a MemoToo app to sync with my Android phone (Samsung 7). Sometime in the last year or so, Google Play removed the Memotoo app citing information security concerns. I have continued to use the app that was installed on my phone w no seeming problem. However now, I'm required to upgrade because the Samsung 7 phone has no 5G network compatibility. I would like to continue to use Evolution, syncingin it with Memotoo, and then updating my phone's contact list. To this end, I have contacted Memotoo about the issue (no reply yet), and was looking for recommendations from the Syncevolution email list. Much thanks Max Pyziur pyz at brama.com _______________________________________________ SyncEvolution mailing list -- syncevolution at syncevolution.org To unsubscribe send an email to syncevolution-leave at syncevolution.org %(web_page_url)slistinfo%(cgiext)s/%(_internal_name)s From patrick.ohly at gmx.de Tue Nov 16 06:47:57 2021 From: patrick.ohly at gmx.de (Patrick Ohly) Date: Tue, 16 Nov 2021 07:47:57 +0100 Subject: [SyncEvolution] Re: Syncing an Android Phone - Memotoo In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Max Pyziur writes: > I've been using Syncevolution to sync with my Memotoo account for a > considerable period of time. > > In turn, I use a MemoToo app to sync with my Android phone (Samsung 7). > > Sometime in the last year or so, Google Play removed the Memotoo app > citing information security concerns. Is that a concern for the user (app has vulnerabilities) or for Google (a user isn't using his Android device and address book as intended)? Sorry, couldn't resist. > I have continued to use the app that was installed on my phone w no > seeming problem. > > However now, I'm required to upgrade because the Samsung 7 phone has no 5G > network compatibility. > > I would like to continue to use Evolution, syncingin it with Memotoo, and > then updating my phone's contact list. > > To this end, I have contacted Memotoo about the issue (no reply yet), and > was looking for recommendations from the Syncevolution email list. There is CardDAV-Sync, but I don't know how well it works with MemoToo. I have to enter a password each time. Greetings, Much thanks to all who have offered advice. I have finally gotten around to upgrading my phone from an Android Samsung S7 to an Android Samsung A52 5G, per Sprint/T-Mobile's requirements. The last task for managing all the upgrade is to configure MemoToo, or to find some other mechanism of accessing either my Evolution data or to download it from the Memotoo website (my governing data is what is input into Evolution on my computer; Memotoo and my phone(s) only receive the data). Memotoo provides its app on its website. There are some instructions on how to configure it on different OS's and devices. I do not have an answer as to why it was removed from the Google Play store. Per the instructions from Memotoo, I have downloaded and installed the MemoToo app on the A52. I am able to download (reset) my contacts and calendar data to my A52. However, when I open Samsung's Contacts on the A52, I can't configure it so that it sees Memotoo's data. The same happens with my Samsung Calendar on my A52. I have contacted Memotoo in this regard. I have then downloaded/purchased Synthesis SyncML Client PRO. I have only begun to wrestle with the configuration. So far, all I see is that it can upload, not download data. But these are the early stages. What I have gleened, though. The last system software update on my S7 was to Android 8.x; the A52's Android version is Android 11. Synthesis SyncML Client PRO provides documentation (http://www.synthesis.ch/dl.php/1596/SyncML_Client_for_Android_en.pdf); a brief review indicates that " for Android 1.5 up to Android 8.1 ( ARM and Intel Atom, 32/64 bit). The page footers indicate a copyright from 2002-2018. So, there is some concern if this software is current. Much thanks for any guidance that anyone can offer on how to manage this transition, Max > John > > On 11/15/21 15:45, Max Pyziur wrote: >> >> Greetings, >> >> I've been using Syncevolution to sync with my Memotoo account for a >> considerable period of time. >> >> In turn, I use a MemoToo app to sync with my Android phone (Samsung 7). >> >> Sometime in the last year or so, Google Play removed the Memotoo app citing >> information security concerns. >> >> I have continued to use the app that was installed on my phone w no seeming >> problem. >> >> However now, I'm required to upgrade because the Samsung 7 phone has no 5G >> network compatibility. >> >> I would like to continue to use Evolution, syncingin it with Memotoo, and >> then updating my phone's contact list. >> >> To this end, I have contacted Memotoo about the issue (no reply yet), and >> was looking for recommendations from the Syncevolution email list. >> >> Much thanks >> >> Max Pyziur >> pyz at brama.com >> _______________________________________________ >> SyncEvolution mailing list -- syncevolution at syncevolution.org >> To unsubscribe send an email to syncevolution-leave at syncevolution.org >> %(web_page_url)slistinfo%(cgiext)s/%(_internal_name)s >> > _______________________________________________ SyncEvolution mailing list -- syncevolution at syncevolution.org To unsubscribe send an email to syncevolution-leave at syncevolution.org %(web_page_url)slistinfo%(cgiext)s/%(_internal_name)s From rk1 at robkr.de Sat Nov 27 15:06:25 2021 From: rk1 at robkr.de (Robert K) Date: Sat, 27 Nov 2021 15:06:25 +0000 Subject: [SyncEvolution] Re: Syncing an Android Phone - Memotoo In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <20211127150625.2778.29934@ml01.vlan13.01.org> Hello Max, I have good experience with Synthesis Pro client.
