          Priority: medium
            Bug ID: 69962
          Assignee: systemd-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: improve error message when systemd is not INIT/PID 1
        QA Contact: systemd-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
          Severity: normal
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux (All)
          Reporter: lonewolf at xs4all.nl
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
            Status: NEW
           Version: unspecified
         Component: general
           Product: systemd

On my system i sometimes boot with systemd as init, but also boot with openrc
as init.

If i execute a systemd command while booted with openrc, i get this message :

Failed to issue method call: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1

While i know this is caused by booting with another init/PID 1 then systemd, i
feel this message could be clearer.

Maybe it could be changed to something like :

This command requires the system to be booted with systemd, aborting

?
