It is, and the fact that it's a machine identifier exactly what makes it
somewhat private – similar to how many people consider MAC addresses or
iPhone UDIDs to be private information.

Though like MAC addresses, it has its necessary uses, as long as your app
doesn't broadcast it all over the internet...
