Hi Christian,
you've spotted a pixelbug indeed :) I've fixed it in trunk. Sorry for
the lack of response for your previous queries. Sadly we couldn't make
the proposed changes as quickly as you needed :/. 

I'll be happy to add the USB, firewire and SCSI controller/bus icons in
gnome icon theme extras. I'm not sure they are generic/useful enough to
drag around in the base naming spec. Will ponder.
