Hi.
The music player Exaile has a feature which does the following: based on
the current content of the playlist, other similar tracks from your own
music collection are added to the playlist. That this is based on data
fetched from music services like last.fm is only an extra info.
I tried really hard coming up with a graphical metaphor to express the
functionality above but could not find any. The fact that I need so many
words to describe a simple functionality does not help.
Now I would like to ask the members of this list for ideas and, if
someone has some spare time left, maybe even an implementation.
One idea is a depiction of a playlist where one or several arrows point
at a free spot in the playlist indicating that something will be added
there. I am afraid that this is too much detail for the lowest
resolution at 16×16 pixels but maybe it’s a start.
Another idea is an arrow with multiple starts (representing the current
tracks in playlist) but only one end (indicating the tracks added
dynamically) below. A lot less detail required here but would require an
actual implementation to evaluate.
Thanks for comments and regards,
Mathias Brodala
