Here's a version of Danielle's branch that I'd be willing to merge.

Unfortunately, I had to work around
<https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=615550> in a rather ugly way. When
we can depend on gtk-doc 1.15 (i.e. when it's been released), we can get rid of
the workaround.
