account-plugin-haze 0.7 (current stable version from maemo extras repository)

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:  
1. try to add a new ICQ or Yahoo messenger account (tap on availability,
accounts, new, and select ICQ or Yahoo) 
2. insert username and password
3. tap on "sign in"

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
Account is added.

ACTUAL OUTCOME: 
Nothing happens: the sign in button grays out but nothing else happens even
after waiting a long while.

always

OTHER COMMENTS:
I do not need a proxy for network access.
I compared the configuration of the yahoo account with the configuration of
pidgin on my laptop, and they are identical.
I also tried AIM and MSN accounts, that work correctly.
Same behavior was reported by user Akif Butt
on the maemo site:
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/account-plugin-haze/. He could get it
to work with MSN but not with yahoo.
