In conversations, I expect my nickname in front of my own messages (as the
conversation partner's nickname is displayed in front of theirs). Instead, the
ICQ plugin displays the ICQ account number.

For comparison, the gabble plugin correctly prepends my nickname to my
messages, and not the XMPP account address.
