Please get a Haze debug log showing an attempt to put this account online: you
can get that by selecting Haze in Empathy's Help->Debug window, see
<http://live.gnome.org/Empathy/Debugging> for more info. For best results,
temporarily disable all your other Empathy accounts while getting the log.

It'd also be interesting to know whether you can connect to the same account
with Pidgin (available from universe, I believe) - Pidgin and telepathy-haze
both use libpurple.
