More info:
After reporting the bug it happened again.
I then killed TPL and run it manually with TPL_DEBUG=all for the whole day, it
never happened again.

Emilio suspected some crashes happened, but the manually run never crashed and
anyway when I noticed TPL not logging incoming messages, it was running, but
writing only outgoing communications.
I'd exclude a "lost messages due to crash" scenario.

I am suspecting some sort of race condition somewhere, not excluding it outside
TPL.
