So to be clear, I'm suggesting:
• if the CM is too old, TP_CHANNEL_FEATURE_CONTACTS should fail to prepare;
• this should be documented;
• the properties and methods relating to it should be documented to return
NULL/FALSE/whatever until/unless CONTACTS is prepared.
