I suspect most of the things I said later in the email thread apply equally if
you replace DTLS with ZRTP (and TLS-SRP with the short authentication strings)
throughout. Authentication is hard, authentication where the UI is in another
process doubly so.

Supporting both ZRTP and DTLS for Call channels would have the disadvantage
that we have to be able to choose (somehow) which one to use for a particular
call. If one of them is "strictly better than" the other, that's easy, but if
each of them has desirable properties that the other does not, then we have to
know (somehow) which properties the user values more...
