That overlaps with stuff I've done... I'll have a look, and take your
implementations unless mine look significantly better (or simpler).

I've been concentrating on trying to get a whole pre-GDBus stack (tp-glib, 
Empathy) into a testable state, so that we know whether "it stops working with
GDBus" is a regression. Unfortunately, it seems that nobody has tested this
stuff as a whole stack, because I'm still finding bugs like "the Mission
Control .pc files are wrong".

If nobody is testing Empathy with Telepathy 1.0 anyway, then I suppose I might
as well land GDBus...
