Hi all!

I opened this issue eleven(!) years ago.

Since then it has undergone all the usual stages, from the initial "me too"
wave of other users, along the "nobody needs this" and "implement it yourself"
replies from various developers, rediscovery and re-prioritisation by a
maintainer, submission of actual patches and the failure to ever merge them,
and - finally - a very long phase of pure and simple abandonment, sided by an
emerging flood of unfiltered ticket spam that noone seems to take on for years.

I hereby officially give up any hope that this feature will ever be integrated
in to telepathy, which also has been overtaken on all sides by a plethora of
young and modern messaging frameworks.

To set an end to this misery and the years-long flood of spam to my mailbox I
am closing this bug for good.

Many thanks goes to all those who have supported the bug over the years or even
contributed actual code and stayed in the loop even though it was so spammy. 

Shame on the freedesktop project for their well-documented failure to make any
progress and to protect the users of their bugtracker from unwanted commercial
mailings.
