[Telepathy] Presence protocol

Hi all! I'm developing an audio conference application and i need some
presence protocol in order to notify the master node (i have a master,
used by a teacher, and many slaves used by the students) that a new
user have benn logged in. All the pc (master and slave) are in the
same laboratory, in the same lan (192.168.0.xxx segment). What sort of
presence protocol do you advice me to use? For the audio communication
part i will use farsight2.
