[Telepathy] video chat not working (Ubuntu 9.10, Gtalk)

I know my webcam is working, but whenever I try to initiate a
video chat, the connection closes down right away.

I've installed both ubuntu-restricted-extra and
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse --
is there something else I need to install (or do) to get this working?
