Relatedly:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~smcv/telepathy-spec-protocols/spec/org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Protocol.DRAFT.html#org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Protocol.DRAFT.VCardField
implies that we currently don't have any way to say “this protocol
supports calling these kinds of identifiers”. For instance, SIP and
Skype can call PSTN numbers; the sip.profile on the N900 has the
following stanza:

[Action call]
Name = ...
VCardFields = X-SIP,TEL
prop-....ChannelType-s = ...StreamedMedia

to indicate that you can call contacts who have either an X-SIP field or
a TEL field using SIP accounts.

This is related to <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26866>,
and I suspect is the purpose of the SecondaryVCardFields
<https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24898>.
