It's not supported yet: 
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13127 is the bug to follow, 
though as you can see it's had no activity since three years ago (when 
Haze was only a few months old).

Help in improving Haze would be most welcome!

http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/doc/book/sect.channel.text.html has 
some information. It does need updating, since the way transient 
chatrooms should be represented has changed, but is still accurate for 
named chat rooms, which are supported on Jabber, Link-Local XMPP and IRC 
(off the top of my head).
