Are those libs available on Windows and Mac ? 
Is python-gobject the same as pygobject as available here

I guess this means that dbus is supported on Windows

But I guess I will go for the stream tubes first.

Read about folks today. What I have in mind is a solution where the user does 
not have to worry about the communication channel info but rather when he/she 
picks a contact from the roster and the party is offline a voip/sip call will 
be initiated. So in the sense of metacontacts sip would be one of the 
communication channels (I am still working on the terminology to express what 
I have in mind)
