At the very least, it works for me with UIM 1.8.0 fresh from git (Mar 13,
52b5b6aa) and Wine 1.4 from *buntu 12.04b precise universe repositories. Please
see the attached screenshot.

The only way I can get it *not* to work is to unset XMODIFIERS. I assume you
had your environment variables set up properly and uim-xim was running?
