Looking at your log on the arch bug, this could be just because the vid 
is mpeg1 and that isn't usual to test with. You say .mpg doesn't work, 
but .mpg is a container - it could contain several types of video. Does 
mpeg2 eg. dvd work? Does h264 (probably not in .mpg) work -vc ffh264vdpau?

Questions not really needing a reply here - but things to test to give 
extra info for a bug.

I am not a developer and don't know what the status of uvd on E350 is.
