I think to sum it up for me atleast, I haven't tried the fix,

It hasn't been patched,

and waimea has been off and on for years, nothing new to see here.

Heck I still run waimea .4, because I find it to be stable and fine :)

... But yes Waimea has been in the black hole for quite some time, 
that's why there is so many spinoff's on waimea, like Khakai for example.
