I've been using a patch from Stskeeps, http://sprunge.us/JGEY, I think it's
been around for a while, but I don't know if it's in mesa or not. This has been
working for me. However at this moment I can't build mesa Master, as it seems a
requirement for a library version was bumped. 

The clients that failed, are the ones that come with Weston. I'm not exactly
sure what they use when they are on VirtualBox
