Basically if I place my finger at the edge of my touchpad or in one of the
corners no matter where I move my finger, as long as it does not leave the
touchpad, there is no movement of the cursor.

This also means that I am unable to use the edges of my touchpad to scroll.

Neither of these issues were present before I installed this package. And even
if I use my little finger (so it can't possibly think it's my palm), it doesn't
work, even if not right on the edge of my touchpad, where one would normally
try to scroll that is.
