alternatively tapping with the two fingers (like playing an old-style arcade
game) usually reproduces the issue, at least on all other touchpads we've seen
this on. The key is to get the finger to move from one position to the other
faster than the HW refresh rate. It's a race condition, so it'll take a few
tries.
