See also my comment 6 in bug 98800 - the problem is (with your touchpad) that
once you have two fingers down, we do not get the position of the third,
fourth, .. finger. So all we know is "third finger down" but we don't know
where. So we don't know whether it was a thumb (ignore!) or a third finger
(middle click!).

This cannot be fixed until RMI4 is commonplace in the kernel, feel free to
re-open this bug then. But for now, you're stuck with this behaviour, at least
on your touchpad. Sorry
