touchpads don't have configurable acceleration profiles, so the option being
ignored is expected.

as for pointer movement: the pointer should stay "attached" to your finger for
all but quite fast movement. i.e. a movement of ca 30mm on the touchpad should
result in a movement of ca 30mm on the screen. is that not the case?
