There has been some fixes to mutter (gnome-shell) related to this, so this
could be theh Xdnd integration issue, not an Xwayland issue. See
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=763246 .

Could you try mutters master git branch, or the next mutter version that should
come out fairly soon?
