yeah it was weird, GDM wouldn't even load. And I used the git version as you
had linked it. I just downloaded the .zip of that branch and make installed it.

As far as which accel setting, I used a setting in Gnome-Control-Center at
around the ~70% mark. And yes, I changed the accel setting a bit, but that
level was the one that felt the most comfortable for my 'normal' pointer
velocity.
