Sorry, I should have both read more and remembered more. I now recall the
ThinkPad X220 really needed hysteresis for single finger clicks. Due to high
touchpad precision and small touchpad size, the cursor would move during the
click. Lenovo "fixed" this in the X230 by making the touchpad hardware just
much less precise.

OK, it sounds like we've got another simple math problem somewhere. If Peter
says the intended hysteresis is 0.5mm but I'm often seeing 5.0mm then that
sounds like a simple bug.
