I've tried to reproduce this with a test case, but I can't quite figure out
what the trigger is. It indicates libinput getting out of sync somewhere with
the state of the device, but that's a bug that needs to be fixed where it
happens. A simple boolean guard isn't going to be enough here.

Can you try to figure out the exact sequence of events that needs to happen for
this to occur please?
