It seems that you are right. I searched a little more with the serial number of
my mouse and I found that the dpi are 1100
<a href="http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/corded-mouse-m500">http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/corded-mouse-m500</a>

That said 1000 dpi give a better feeling, not only for the acceleration, but
also for small movements.</pre>
