<pre>I think the way forward here is:
1. Use fuzz as the hysteresis threshold(s).
2. Modify hysteresis to be omnidirectional (test if raw (dx,dy) is within the
ellipse defined by the hysteresis thresholds (hx,hy)).
3. Hysteresis always on.</pre>
