failed to create display: no such file or directory

Compiled the wayland successfully,use --prefix=/usr/X11R7 --sysconfdir=/etc.
 When run ./compositor -b my-image.jpg,successfully,can move mouse ,don't other.
When run ./compositor && terminal
always get below error:
failed to create display: no such file or directory
